Communities are world building collectives.
Even when times are tough, when capacity is low, resources are scant, and relationships are strained, we have the ability to conenct with one another and work towards shared goals.
As your facilitator, I hold space for communitiy relationship building. I provide structure for meaningful collaboration. I suggest ways to frame labour and capacity that include all community members.
My facilitated meetings, consultations, and education sessions are informed by the work of black feminist activist and writer adrienne maree brown. Her work values adaptation, inclusivity, and patience.
I adapt learning strategies from Liberating Structures, a series of activities informed by the work of Brazilian educator and philosopher Paolo Freire.
For groups with action-oriented issues, I share and teach activist strategies learned from my own experiences, some of which are outlined in the web resource Beautiful Trouble.
My process is iterative, emergent, and inclusive.
I am a ruthless optimist, and I believe in human capacity.
(and I'm not a magician or a witch, contrary to this photo : human magic happens in community)
